Covered California Enrollment Event at O’Connor Hospital

San Jose, CA – With the deadline to enroll in a Covered California health plan fast approaching, O’Connor Hospital will host an Enrollment Event on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be onsite assistance to help people apply for a Covered California health plan and Medi-Cal. Individuals wanting to apply should bring the following required documents: most recently filed tax return; proof of citizenship and identification (alien registration card or work permit, picture identification or social security number/card); proof of address (picture identification or utility bill); and proof of income (most recent pay stub, net income after expenses if self-employed or other income such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or child support).

Covered California is the state’s health insurance marketplace for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, to provide individuals and small businesses access to affordable health insurance plans. Covered California estimates about 2.6 million Californians will be able to access financial assistance to pay for their health insurance, and 1.4 million will be newly eligible for Medi-Cal.

O’Connor’s Health Benefits Resource Center (HBRC) has been reaching out to the local community with information on California’s new health benefit exchange since August 1, 2013. HBRC has shared information at more than 40 events in variety of locations, including schools, libraries, farmer’s markets and religious meetings places.
