San Jose, CA (September 3, 2013) – The DCHS Medical Foundation welcomed Northern Cal Advantage Medical Group (NCA) to its ranks recently. The new affiliation brings more than 70 primary care physicians and 130 specialists to the growing medical foundation. NCA is an Independent Physician Association (IPA) of physician members who have been serving Santa Clara County and the East San Jose community since 2010.
According to NCA President and CEO Huy N. Trinh, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist, this affiliation will lead to expanded coverage for the people they serve. “By providing high-quality, culturally competent health and wellness services to members of our community, we are doing our part to offer health care to those who need it, when they need it. With its affiliation with the DCHS Medical Foundation, NCA members can now access a much larger specialist network, not just in Santa Clara County, but throughout California” he offers. NCA accepts a number of insurance plans including Care 1st, Easy Choice, and Valley Healthplan, among others.
DCHS Medical Foundation CEO Ernie Wallerstein reports this new corps of Primary Care and Specialist physicians will be an important part of the DCHS Medical Foundation’s efforts to improve patient outcomes in Santa Clara County. “The combined years of experience of more than 70 primary care physicians and 130 specialists will help us change the way health care is provided,” he says. “The sum of their experience allows us to increase our outcomes driven patient care services and continue to provide those services in a more cost effective manner.”
The DCHS Medical Foundation, a statewide medical foundation established by Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) and headquartered in San Jose, CA, was formed in April 2012. Under Wallerstein’s direction, the DCHS Medical Foundation is expanding its facilities to serve DCHS communities statewide in collaboration with local medical staffs, which span the California coast from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles. DCHS hospitals include: Seton Medical Center, Daly City; Seton Coastside, Moss Beach; O’Connor Hospital, San Jose; Saint Louise Regional Hospital, Gilroy; St. Francis Medical Center; Lynwood; and St. Vincent Medical Center, Los Angeles.
“We are pleased to be affiliated with NCA,” says Wallerstein. “Having access to this large new group of primary care physicians will offer an expanded network of integrated, quality care to the people of East San Jose and beyond.”
